Equipment Operator - Public Works
City of The Dalles

The City of The Dalles is recruiting for an Equipment Operator for our Public Works Department.
This full-time, union eligible position is assigned to the Transportation Division.
Position is subject to pre-employment drug/alcohol testing and background check
Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of City streets, alleyways, City rights-of-way, storm-water collection systems, and building maintenance.
Operates and maintains equipment necessary to achieving these service objectives.
May be assigned to assist in water distribution, wastewater collection, storm-water system activities, as well as assisting with General Service activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.
TRAINING: High School Graduation (or equivalent) is required.
Additional training in construction safety practices complying with state and federal regulations and construction standards policy of APWA in regards to streets is desired.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years' experience in street operations is desired.
Developed skills in the operation of construction equipment necessary to this job.
CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSES:
A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with "Tanker" endorsement within 6 months of the time of hire is required.
Pay: $54,650.
09 to $65,255.
05 per year plus a generous benefit package including: Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, HRA-VEBA, Long-Term Disability AD/D, and Employee Assistance Program.
Employee premiums are paid in-full by the City with dependents paid at 85%.
Retirement contributions start after one-year all paid by the City at 13.
5% of base wage.
