Position Summary:
ReconCraft is seeking an Electrical Automation Engineer to oversees the design, engineering, detailing and testing of projects related to maritime vessels and/or maritime projects.
Technical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, requirements development, engineering, detail design, and production design-related activities of the Expanded Ship Work Breakdown Structure (ESWBS) group 400.
Tasks may include performing calculations, analysis, creation of one-line diagrams, schematics, interconnect diagrams, loads analysis, functional design drawings, detail design drawings, production design drawings, submittals, and test procedures.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, client interface and for requirements definition, contributions to proposals, design review submittals, test and trial packages, technical data packages, and training plans.
The Electrical Automation Engineer will also contribute to the mentoring of other engineering team members and production electrical outfitting teams, as required, to ensure the long-term viability and growth of the company.
Essential Job Functions: Support overall customer projects, with a specific focus on C4I system interface, electrical and control system design, component selection, bill of material (BOM) development, and network and architectures.
Create and develop designs, drawings, and related documentation for submittal to clients.
This may include leading a small group of engineers, designers, and technicians participating as a team member with subcontracted firms, and/or working independently.
Create and develop shop fabrication drawings and bill of materials for both prototype and production builds.
This may include 3D and 2D drawing packages.
Refine first-article or other designs through the "red line" process to capture improvements.
Act as a technical liaison for electrical and controls discussions with third-party partners, agents, and government clients.
Facilitate solutions to relevant design-related production issues with project management and manufacturing personnel.
Work closely with management to support proposal development, estimates, and technical feasibility for potential projects.
Review all related documents for accuracy and to ensure that they comply with program or contract specifications.
Help establish and maintain detailed processes and procedures for all electrical and controls applications.
Maintain subject matter expertise for all vessel and shipbuilding standards and codes related to SWBS group 400.
Employ engineering and management best practices and methodologies for providing project leadership.
Assist in developing and implementing strategies that will maximize the synergies among related vessel programs.
Essential Job Requirements: Education: Bachelor's Degree Ability to acquire a security clearance Required Knowledge/Experience: 10 years of electrical automation engineering experience, with a specific focus on the design, construction, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of networked systems incorporating navigation, situational awareness sensor platforms, and wired and wireless communications.
Minimum of 8 years' experience in marine manned, habitable, electrical and controls engineering and detail design.
Minimum of 1 year experience in marine unmanned, electrical and controls engineering and detail design.
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) understanding od MIL-STD-461/464, FCC, EU EMI specifications.
Programing with Qt IDE, IQAN, C++, C#, and Python Shock impact resistant system design development.
Maritime electrical and control systems design competency and good working knowledge of USCG, ABYC, IEEE, ISO, and Classification Society rules.
In-depth working knowledge and understanding of design tools such as AutoCAD and other industry standard software.
Experience executing technical scopes of work on challenging government and commercial marine projects.
Ability to facilitate team building and mission execution in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Experience managing complex, multi-faceted design projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build effective relationships.
Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access, Visio, and Outlook).
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
Ability and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
Commitment to safety rules.

Preferred Knowledge/Experience: Current design experience of with high-speed combatant craft.
Government vessel program and contract experience.
CANBUS, NMEA 2000, J1939 I-O Link, Ethernet, MODbus TCP, ProfiNet, EthernetIP, and other databus design standards and protocols.
Work experience in a shipyard environment.
Shop floor experience.
Physical Requirements: Effectively and safely perform work in support of company and client objectives in both and office (primary) and shop (secondary) environment.
This position may require limited shop floor inspection and oversight of design integration and production efforts for the purposes of validation, verification, troubleshooting and testing.
This could include grasping, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing, and visual acuity.
