Job Title: Sr.
Manufacturing & Process Engineer Department: Production Reports To: VP Operations FLSA Status: Full Time Exempt Location: Hood River, West Coast SUMMARY The Senior Manufacturing and Process Engineer is a key member of the Brewery Operations leadership team.
In this role you will provide daily support to Brewing, Packaging, Operations and Maintenance to ensure all aspects of production are operating correctly and efficiently.
You will lead manufacturing and process improvement initiatives from development through implementation to increase productivity, capacity, improve quality, safety and ensure compliance.
Project management responsibilities will include sourcing, commissioning, building and installing equipment and working with relevant internal and external partners.
This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable working in a dynamic, sometimes unstructured start-up environment, who is willing to roll up their sleeves and support all aspects of the business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Develop, implement and manage a lean manufacturing engineering program across all operations.
Collaborate with the brewery leadership team to identify, develop and lead process improvement and engineering initiatives to increase efficiency, safety, quality and productivity.
Establish and maintain supporting infrastructure, MRO process, inventory, vendor relationships, documentation systems and preventative maintenance capabilities.
Prepare project scopes, capital cost estimates, cost value analyses, and collaborate with relevant parties, including Finance, to strategize, plan and deploy capital effectively.
Develop schedules, work break down structures, deliverables, budget and resource plans.
Manage and execute projects, on schedule and within budget across the entire lifecycle (install, commission, controls, instrumentation, SCADA/MES/ERP).
Manage and supervise related contract work schedules, quality, and performance.
Implement robust PM, PdM, and MOH maintenance plans for all new equipment overseen.
Drive the part, machine and operator proficiency and consistency of the production lines to minimize shift and production variance.
Apply various programming languages necessary for utilizing the SCADA system including programming PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and the interface software (Ignition).
Develop/review technical documents (e.
g.
, blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, etc.
) Assist Production and Maintenance Departments in repairing technical problems during production operations.
Effectively manage multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
Assist in achieving department KPIs, business and production goals.
Over time, develop standardized programs, KPIs/metrics and reports to ensure process operating performance, ongoing improvements, risk identification, visibility and training.
Develop operational performance dashboards to report on health of the systems.
Drive and/or support the planning and execution of reviews and present in key forums to support the above.
Troubleshoot systems as required.
Perform failure analysis and implement preventive methods to improve performance.
Ensure alarms and controls identify and resolve issues systemically.
Raise maintenance team skillset, workflow and competency.
Mentor/coach employees within the department related to improvements or projects.
Seek out all opportunities to improve capacity, eliminate waste, improve sustainability and heighten team safety, comradery and fun.
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
8+ years of experience in beverage manufacturing, brewing or related process industries.
Experience with brewhouse, cellar and packaging equipment is preferred.
Demonstrated results in developing and deploying CAPEX projects- managing complex engineering projects and large capital budgets in a manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in engineering and reliability toolsets- CAD, SCADA (Ignition preferred), PLCs, controls hardware, Pareto analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Experience with CMMS, ERP, MES production and inventory management systems Proficiency with project management tools including AutoCAD, Microsoft Project.
Knowledge & Abilities: Deep understanding of lean manufacturing.
PMP certification, PMI equivalent credential/training and blackbelt or greenbelt certification desired.
Financial acumen and proficiency with CAPEX budgeting and reporting.
Entrepreneurial, astute, has a passion for getting into the details.
Big picture thinker, strategic and able to distill tactical/detailed process and workflows.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to juggle multiple projects, prioritize, and execute in a fast-paced environment.
An effective and persuasive communicator with outstanding presence and presentation skills.
Occasional travel required to support projects.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: This position will require time shared between an office and Brewery/Manufacturing plant environment.
Working conditions may include loud noises, extreme temperatures, enclosed spaces.
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hair nets, ear plugs and steel toe boots (as required by company policy).
