Duties:
Responsible for field measurement of complex geometry and verification of dimensions for projects
Modify designs of existing products to adapt to various pieces of equipment.
Create accurate 3D models of metal products in Solidworks software
Collaborates with electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical groups to create, edit, or update drawings, models, prints, or manuals as needed.
Determines the clearest and most logical way to present information and instructions for greatest reader comprehension and writes and edits technical information accordingly
Prepares or commissions graphics and illustrations to elaborate on or complement technical writing
Performs basic mechanical calculations related to force, moment, and stress analysis
Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
Five+ years related experience with emphasis on design preferred
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent measuring skills and expert level use of various measuring tools
Adaptability to rapidly changing working environments and operational situations.
Physical ability to operate in a manufacturing environment, including light to moderate lifting, walking and climbing, oral communication, correctable vision, and ability to work in a hot, humid, and dusty environment.
Computer literacy in SolidWorks, word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail and presentation graphics, etc.
Must be proficient with Solidworks modeling and Solidworks drawings
Well-developed mechanical drawing skills, including proper drafting, dimensioning, and tolerance techniques
Working knowledge of drafting standards
Well-developed technical writing skills
Ability to create technical manuals and assembly instructions for products and equipment.
Ability to work from rough sketches to create detailed part and assembly models
Have an understanding of processes used in metal fabrication industry (welding, metal forming, assembly, production, cutting, etc.
)
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Ability to work under pressure and meet firm deadlines
Experience with electrical and hydraulic schematics
Ability to work with a team and effectively communicate with other teams within the organization
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Windows operating systems
