*Industrial Machine Operator*
The operator sets up, operates, and tends machines that sews and cuts mattress panels to specifications as designated by customer orders.
*Duties and Responsibilities*
· Use controls and computer screens to efficiently run various machines
· Cleans machines and area, as required, before use
· Load work on various machines and produce product to the required quality and at the expected level of output and productivity
· Identify raw materials necessary for the machines
· Obtain raw materials from the storage areas
· Return any unused raw materials to the designated storage areas upon completion of the work assignments
· Safely operate machines, adhering to all safety guidelines, ensuring all equipment safety interlocks are functional and in use and wearing all required PPE
· Identifies any defects in product produced on the machines and asides for repair
· Identifies root cause for defects and makes necessary changes to prevent recurrence.
Requests assistance from maintenance and/or Supervision, as required, to assist in defect correction.
· Sharpen blades
· Neatly stacks product from machines
· Place necessary production tickets on product from machines
· Performs other tasks as requested by Management/Supervision
*EDUCATIONAL/EXPRERIENCE REQUIREMENTS*:
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
*SKILLS REQUIRED*
· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
· Ability to enter data into computer and read data on screen relating to production.
· Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
· Ability to use a tape measure and to mark and cut material to an accuracy of ¼”
· Ability to use a straight edge
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
