Position Summary: The Director of Real Estate and Development is tasked with overseeing the several underlying, interconnected projects that occur on the Real Estate Development team, ranging from liaising with external legal counsel on lease negotiations to identifying risks and opportunities across multiple projects within the department, to overseeing external construction project managers and working across various assets on differing timelines.
The Director of Real Estate and Development is responsible for the strategic creation of the team roadmap under the guidance of the Chief Development Officer, which encompasses the full list of dependent projects that need to be completed to reach the Company’s strategic objectives.
A successful Director of Real Estate and Development drives strategic benefits and organizational growth to achieve goals based on budget, timeline, favorable contract terms and asset ROI.
This position is based at our Portland Support Center in Portland, OR with a travel percentage up to 70%.

8+ years of experience in real estate development.
5+ years management experience in building, leading, and growing high-performance teams.
Experience implementing strategic initiatives.
Experience with project management tools and software, such as Microsoft Project, Asana, JIRA, or Trello.
Preferred Qualifications: Priority consideration for candidates with experience across all domestic U.
S.
markets, especially the East Coast Knowledge and Critical Skills: Advanced knowledge of zoning regulations, land use planning, entitlement processes, and environmental considerations.
Strong understanding of real estate finance, investment analysis, and development feasibility.
Strong knowledge of project management and methodologies.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills and the ability to bring hospitality into all interactions with teams, customers, and vendor relationships.
Self-directed with ability to organize, prioritize, and own multiple tasks while meeting and/or exceeding deadlines; high attention to detail and accuracy.
The ability to be a positive, collaborative, and effective relationship builder and to serve others, including direct reports, with understanding, respect, and care.
Ability to work with people of all backgrounds and identities.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; peer influencer.
Creative and resourceful, flexible to change.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Fluency in English.

Capability to navigate construction sites, which may include uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and scaffolding and maintain situational awareness despite elevated noise levels.

Physical stamina to endure outdoor weather conditions and work in environments with exposure to dust, noise, and other construction-related hazards.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Be able to adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Environment: Work is performed both in an office environment and in retail sites, including potential retail sites in various stages of development and construction sites.
The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to loud due to machinery, equipment, and construction activities.
Work environment may contain uneven surfaces.
The retail shop work environments are in restricted spaces where spatial awareness is very important.
