This 1978 Honda CB550 was modified as a cafe racer with a custom tail section, rear-set foot controls, clip-on handlebars, dual front disc brakes, and aluminum rims.
The inline-four has been fitted with a 600cc big-bore kit, Keihin CR carburetors, and a four-into-one exhaust system, and additional modifications include custom triple clamps, bar-end mirrors, aftermarket gauges, and pod air filters.
Recent work carried out at Hoodview Performance, of Vancouver, Washington, included internally coating the fuel tank, servicing the carburetors, adjusting the valves, changing the oil, and replacing the fork springs and spark plugs.
The fuel tank and custom cafe-style tail section are finished in red with silver-finished badges and offset stripes.
The tail subframe was modified, reshaped, and painted black during the build.
Additional features include aftermarket front turn signals, a rear LED light-strip, an H4 headlight housed in a black-finished bucket, custom triple clamps, a side stand, and aluminum rear-set
foot controls.
The fuel tank was internally lined in October 2022.
Borrani wire-spoke 18″ wheels wear Kenda Challenger tires.
Suspension consists of a conventional fork as well as a swingarm mounted with adjustable chrome shocks.
The fork springs were replaced in October 2022.
Braking is handled by dual drilled discs, red-finished calipers, and Russell stainless-steel hoses up front as well as a drum out back.
Clip-on handlebars with bar-end mirrors front a 12k-rpm tachometer and a 160-mph speedometer with a five-digit odometer showing 985 miles.
The SOHC inline-four is said to have been fitted with a 600cc Forseti big bore kit with 61.
5mm pistons.
The engine has been refinished in matte black and silver paint and clear coated.
Additional equipment includes four Keihin CR carburetors, a solid state regulator and rectifier, open element air filters, and a four-into-one custom stainless-steel exhaust system.
The battery and wiring has been relocated to under the tail cowl.
Work in October 2022 included
servicing the carburetors, adjusting the valves, replacing the spark plugs, and changing the oil.
