I purchased this1965 Heinkel Tourist 103 A2 several years ago from who was assumed to be the third owner.
It now shows just 7900 miles which are felt to be original, however documentation is unavailable.
Regardless, these are incredibly rare post war German scooters, sometimes called the “Rolls Royce” of scooters.
Despite their popularity in Europe, only around 100 are believed to be in the USA today.
Despite the rarity, parts are readily available, especially if you speak German.
After WWII, the German Aircraft manufacturer, Heinkel, responsible for many WWII aircraft, was appropriately banned from the manufacture of aircraft and weapons.
They then turned to building desperately-needed ground transportation in the decades following WWII, including cars, motorcycles, and scooters.
These are very reliable and durable scooters with enthusiasts in Europe traveling many overland miles, just Google it.
This is a low mile example of the last, and best, rendition of the Heinkel Tourist, the 103 A2.
It is powered by a 174 cc Four stroke, single cylinder engine, with a 4-speed gear box.
The foot board is a near solid slab of ½” aluminum and there is a solid metal tube framed spine.
The chain drive is encased in a continual oil bath.
Truly built like an aircraft.
It is a push button electric start.
All lights, turn signals, and horn work as original.
While I have owned the scooter, I have, replaced the single 12 V battery with dual 6 V lithium cells, replaced the hand grips with new and installed a brand-new Bing carburetor, fuel filter, points and spark plugs.
It’s a reliable starter, and good running little machine.
I am selling as I am approaching 70 years old and have only been using it to get the mail.
It’s time for someone else to enjoy it.
You will undoubtedly have the only one at your scooter club gathering.
Included is the original tool kit and owner manual, both pretty rare.
Also an extra shifting and throttle cable.
