This "2004" Gen1 KLR 650 did its job.
It taught me how to ride a motorcycle and took me camping once.
I purchased it maybe 5 years ago from a gentleman in Hillsboro who pieces together KLRs.
He had many KLR's of all ages in his garage and seemed to know his his way around KLRs very well.
I've likely put on about 2k miles myself.
For its age, it is a very clean bike and is currently in a garage in SE Portland (and has always been stored in the same garage).
Very little rain riding on my watch.
I was assured the doohickey was done by the previous owner.
.
.
but have not confirmed this myself.
I added the crash bars, a skid plate, hand guards, and Tusk luggage racks (with Harbor Freight hard boxes).
Continental TKC80 tires were put on at Cycletune.
I've changed the oil once and it got a Shorai Lithium battery too.
The previous owner had added a fork brace as well.
The only known issue is that the fork bushings have worn the insides of the fork lowers and one of the springs is cracked in half.
There is currently a washer in between the two spring sections and the ends were ground down to be less sharp.
The only reason I know this is because the fork had a very slow leak so new seals were installed, fresh oil added, and new brake pads were installed because the previous pads were contaminated.
No leaks now and fork functions fine.
.
.
just maybe not ideal from a high performance or long term longevity standpoint.
I once tipped it over parking it and broke off a tail light and the brake lever.
Both have been replaced since.
Also includes some other goodies:
- chain wax and scrubber
- a taller wind screen
- some Kawasaki oil
- I might have a few other random tid bits in a tote too.
I'm *FIRM* on the price at $3400 right now.
I don't need to sell this bike and may just hang on to it till the spring, but if anyone was interested, I'd love to clear up some garage space in the meantime.
I'll drop the price as time goes or if some sense of urgency develops.
.
.
or maybe I'll just keep it.

Title in hand in my name.
No test ride without letting me hang on to the cash while you ride it.
Moto endorsement needed as well.
Trades - I'm going to be prohibitively picky, so I'm likely not interested, but if you have a large roll cab tool box in *fantastic* shape (think US General 56" or 72"), I would consider that as a partial trade.
I'd also consider a very small AWD/4WD/4x4 vehicle (think Suzuki SX4 or Toyota Rav4.

smaller the better, and preferably a manual transmission) and only if it has impeccable maintenance records.
You can throw out other offers if you'd like.
.
.
but I will likely decline them.
Not interested in firearms or project cars.
